1. Addo Boat Cruise, Sand Boarding and Sand Sledding

These Addo activities are regularly given 5* reviews on TripAdvisor and are great fun for the whole family. The river cruise is on the Sundays River estuary on a double decker pontoon boat which takes a minimum of 4 and a maximum of 30 people. There are even toilet facilities on board! 2. CrissCross Adventures

Crisscross Adventures offers a wide variety of safe and fun-filled activities. Enjoy Addo river safari’s on the Sunday River, quad biking tours, Addo hiking tours in the Zuurberg mountains, sand boarding and sledding and fishing in Addo’s marine section. 3. Addo Elephant National Park Safari Tours

One cannot visit our Addo region without a visit to the third largest national park in South Africa, the Addo Elephant National Park. Many families enjoy self-drives into the park, leisurely viewing wildlife at their own pace. Other families prefer guided tours. There are a number of tailor-made tours into the park offered by various Addo organisations and operators. 4. SANCCOB: Visit Coastal Birds Sanctuary

A short 30 minute drive from Kudu Ridge Game Lodge is the Southern African Foundation for the Conservation of Coastal Birds (SANCCOB). SANCCOB is Port Elizabeth’s marine bird rehabilitation and education centre situated in the Cape Recife Nature Reserve. The centre rescues and rehabilitates birds, in particular the endangered African penguin. Visitors can go into the bird hospital and see the staff and volunteers in action. Contact us for details.

5. Schotia Tooth and Claw Safari

Schotia is a private game reserve that offers one of the best chances to see lion in the wild. The reserve is home to over 40 mammal species and consistently offers close-up game viewing throughout the year. It is the perfect option for impatient family members! The game drives are four hours long and guided in open Land Rovers with a short refreshments and toilet break at the halfway point. 6. South African Air Force Museum

This is a great Addo activity for the young and young-at-heart. The SA Air Force Museum is in nearby Port Elizabeth and collects, preserves, restores and exhibits aircraft and articles relevant to the air force and South African military aviation. The SAAF Museum is free for all visitors but donations are welcome.

7. Londt Park Miniature Railway

If you are visiting Addo during the first Sunday of the month, consider a visit to this this activity in nearby Port Elizabeth. The miniature railway is targeted at younger children and includes the mini railway, mini station, overhead pedestrian bridge and tunnel.

8. Splash Waterworld Supertubes 

A fun family activity for hot summer Addo days. Plan a couple of hours sliding down the waterslides to cool off. Fun for the whole family.

9. Addo Raptor and Reptile Centre

Everyone in the family will enjoy this Addo activity! You can see birds and reptiles that are indigenous to Addo and from further afield. There are a variety of snakes, monkeys and raptors plus other birds such as parrots and macaws. There is also an animal touch farm.

10. Nanaga Farm Stall 

This is lovely local farm stall with delicious food, ice-cream, pies and gifts. We definitely recommend visiting the Nanga Farm Stall while staying in Addo. The shop is open from 8am to 5.30pm, seven days a week. If you coming from Grahamstown, it is the perfect pitstop before Kudu Ridge Game Lodge.
