We are pleased to introduce Alexander Wood, a new member of our Kudu Ridge Game Lodge team. Alex has joined us as our expert Addo safari guide and will lead our tours to the nearby Addo Elephant National Park. Alex has an excellent knowledge of the African bush and we are certain that he will be a valuable and well-loved team member.
Alex’s Safari Guide Training
Alex has always had a passion for the African bush. He started his career in the corporate world and worked in a bank for a few years. He soon realised that he wanted to get outdoors and work with people. So in September 2018, he turned to his passion and enrolled with African Bush Training. African Bush Training is a field guide, wildlife and hospitality training school situated in the Kruger National Park, one of the largest national parks in South Africa. Their main campus lies in on the heart of the Kruger park with satellite training camps in other parks. The school offers students learning opportunities in some of the most sought after wilderness locations in Africa.
Alex completed the safari ranger program, an extensive course starting with FGASA field guiding course, followed by other courses such as Lodge Management, Game Lodge Management, Wildlife Research and Wilderness Protection (anti-poaching).
“I believe my life experiences and knowledge has put me in a great position to be able to deal with difficult situations and to be able to keep a level head with obstacles ahead of me. Guiding has taken me by storm and I don’t see myself wanting to do anything else but teach the world about our true beauty we call ‘The African bush’.” says Alex.
