If you are driving to Kudu Ridge Game Lodge and have time to explore then our recommended self-drive route is via Addo Elephant National Park.
This route includes driving through the Addo Elephant National Park, entering through the Mathyolweni Gate in the south and exiting through the Main Gate on the west side of the park.
The route is approximately 100 kilometers (62 miles) from Port Elizabeth and can take anything from 2 hours to a full day, depending on how long you spend in the Addo National Park.
You will need to pay a day entry fee to enter the Addo Elephant National Park. The latest fees can be found on the Addo Elephant National Park website.
Self-Drive from Port Elizabeth via Addo Mathyolweni Gate
From Port Elizabeth follow the coast on the N2 national road north to Colchester.
Shortly after crossing the Sunday’s River, in the hamlet of Colchester, turn left onto the road signed for the Addo Elephant National Park Mathyolweni gate. Turn right to the gate and stop to pay the fees at the reception.
Use the Addo map given to you to enjoy a day of game viewing in the Big 5 Addo Elephant National Park. Take your time! Besides the spectacular game there are picnic sites and viewpoints to enjoy.
Follow the Addo park map and signs and exit at the Addo Park Main gate. Once you have left the park turn left onto the R342 towards Addo village. This road becomes the R335. Continue on the R335 until you see the turning to the right for Kudu Ridge Game Lodge.
